Paxymer protects people

In 2002 MSB, the Swedish civil contingencies agency, approached Dr Swaraj Paul with a problem: Fire fighters and rescue workers had vast problems in dealing with burning plastic materials, these materials emitted toxic smoke, reignited other materials and caused material damage through soot. The plastic industry told them that it could not be solved without using toxic flame-retardants. Dr Paul’s conclusion was that solving these problems was possible in a toxic-free way. That solution became the patented PaxymerTM system.

Does not soot
Does not drip
Does not smoke

Instead of trying to fulfil the current standards Dr Paul decided that he comprehensively wanted to solve the problems of fire. Combining the difficulties communicated by MSB and his extensive product development experience resulted in PaxymerTM: increased safety for the end user and a system that is usable for the manufacturers.

Increses safety
PaxymerTM is the only system that is designed with the full range of problems with fire in mind. The unique burning process – no smoke, no dripping and no soot – increase the safety for both victims and rescue workers and minimize the fire spread and sanitation cost.

Active in all parts of the burning process
PaxymerTM is active in all areas of the burning process: it reduces combustible gases, heat and in turn pyrolysis, where most flame-retardants only affect one or maybe two of these processes. For more information read more on how plastic materials burn and how flame retardants work.

Does not smoke
Most fire deaths are related to toxic smoke. The victims of smoke intoxication are sometimes not even touched by fire (see fire deaths and injuries). PaxymerTM is toxic-free and has low smoke emission due to the system design. Smoke gas toxicity is determined by the base polyolefin.

Does not drop or soot
Drops of burning material are a common cause of fire spread. And soot is a cause for high cost in sanitation work. The functional polymers in PaxymerTM prevent these processes and materials containing the PaxymerTM system do not drop or soot.

PaxymerTM is a system designed to minimize the risk exposure according to the risk assessment methodology. It is able to fulfil the standard flammability tests (such as UL94-V0, GWFI 960°, EN-50085 etc.) and increase safety through the favourable burning process and non-toxic composition.
