When he started as an consultant he worked with the goal to set up a laboratory in order to solve problems not only on paper but also in practice. Swaraj
A research scholarship in Sweden

Dr Swaraj Paul was born in India and accomplished his graduate studies in chemistry education at Udaipur and Agra Universities. Synthetic and Chemicals Ltd was his first employment where he worked for 5 years with the development of SBR rubber. To persue his post-graduate studies and further specialization in Polymers, Swaraj received a research scholarship at the Institute of Polymer Technology under Prof Rånby in Sweden at the Royal Institute of Technology. He took his PhD degree in 1975 followed by Dsc in 1979. In the meanwhile Swaraj started to work in the Swedish industry for the following 11 years. During that time he worked in fields such as coatings, adhesives and composites at many different industries. In 1985 Swaraj founded PP Polymer AB with the main focus on to provide industries with tailor-made solutions in an environmentally friendly way.

Author of two books on polymeric chemistry

Dr Swaraj Paul has also authored a few books in these areas. In 1985 John Wiley, London, published his first book Surface Coatings. John Wiley and Pergamon Press published a multi-authored 2nd edition of Surface Coatings and Comprehensive Polymer Science in 1995 and 1989.

Flame retardance becomes interesting

In 2002 the Swedish civil contingencies agency (MSB) approaches Dr Paul and PP Polymer with a request to solve their work life environment issues: Plastic materials burn with high energy and many toxic emissions creating an unacceptable environment for fire fighters and rescue workers. Dr Paul concluded that it was possible to flame retard plastics contrary to what the industry believed. This was the foundation for the patents that resulted in the Paxymer system, the only system that addresses the entire issue with burning plastic materials and modifies the whole burning process.

A true family business

PP Polymer's DNA is development and innovation. In order to capture the opportunity of Paxymer fully it was branched off into Paxymer AB in 2009. The company is headed by Amit Paul, Dr Paul's son since 2010. Paxymer handles all sales, production and customer & partner support activities. However the companies work in close collaboration with a strong foundation in the family and company values. Paxymer AB is committed to a sustainable, safe and toxic-free environment.
